SALISBURY --G. Olen Lokey, 92, of Salisbury died Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Salisbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Olen was born Dec. 24, 1916, in Salisbury to the late Wallace and Minnie (McAllister) Lokey. Olen worked for Jodi Shirt Company for 10 years and Manhattan Shirt Company for 16 years. He also was a journeyman plumber for Ralph R. Baker Plumbing and Heating. A World War II veteran, he proudly served in the U.S. Army as a first sergeant in the 28th Division, 229th Field Artillery, supporting the 112th Infantry. He was on the third wave on the Normandy beaches. Olen achieved lifetime memberships in the Salisbury Moose Lodge 654 and VFW Post 194. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Walston and her husband, David; a granddaughter, Heather Lane and her husband, Evan; a great-grandson, Cole Lane; and several cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jeanette Baker Lokey. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury, where friends may call from noon-2 p.m. Interment will be at Parsons Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Humane Society, 5130 Citation Drive, Salisbury, Md. 21804.
