Stanley V. 'Orak' Orzechowski

Stanley V. "Orak" Orze-chowski, 85, of Big Beaver, died peacefully Monday, September 15, 2008, at his residence with his loving family surrounding him. Born July 27, 1923, in Bayonne, NJ, a son of the late Valentine and Mary Tomczak Orzechowski, he was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church, IBEW Local Union 201, Beaver Falls Polish Falcons Nest 318, Beaver Falls Polish National Alliance Lodge 423, Beaver Falls American Legion Post 261 and the Beaver Falls Veterans Association. He served in the Army during World War II in Company L of the 109th Infantry Regiment of the 28th Infantry Division.

He served in the Battle of the Bulge, and received the Bronze Star and Silver Star, the American Campaign Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with five Bronze Stars, World War II Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the French Croix de Guere. He retired from the assembly line of Westinghouse in Beaver after 21 1/2 years of service. Stanley loved dancing, especially Polkas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Vular Orzechowski, in 1994; a brother, Charles V. Orzechowski, and three sisters, Stella (Tomsic) Tomczykiewicz, Bernice Olczak and Victoria M. Orzechowski.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stanley J. and Cil Orzechowski, Bethel Park; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Jack Homitz, Daugherty Township; six grandchildren, Chelsea, Stephanie and Ashley Homitz, New Brighton, Nichole, and twins, Austin and Scott Orzechowski, Bethel Park, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the LUTTON CHIPPEWA FUNERAL HOME, 117 Blackhawk Road, www.luttonfuneral home.com, where prayers will be offered Friday at 9:20 a.m., followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Philomena Catholic Church with Father Steven Palsa and Father Bob Vular as celebrants.

Entombment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Daugherty Township.

Members of the Veteran's Honor Guard will meet at 10:45 a.m. at the cemetery to conduct full military honors.
