Lowell Ballinger Missing in ActionWord has been received here by Mr. & Mrs. John Ballinger that their son, Pfc Lowell Ballinger, was reported missing in action on the German front, on April 3. Pfc Ballinger has been a member of the famous "old Hickory" 30th Division of the 9th Army, for the past three months. He has been in the service for a year, and reported overseas in November, 1944, going immediately into the frontline action. His wife, Zelnia, and their two children are making their home near Lebanon. Pfc Lowell Ballinger, 24, son of Mr. & Mrs. John Ballinger, Dixon township, was killed in action in Germany, April 3 (1945), and was buried in Holland, according to information received by relatives. A member of the 30th Division, he was listed as missing in action, prior to the death announcement. Services Set for Camden Veteran Services will be held at 2 pm Thursday for Pfc Lowell Ballinger, 28, son of Mr & Mrs John Ballinger, of R. R. 3, Eaton, who was killed in action in Germany, April 3, 1945. Military rites will be conducted in the R. C. Nein Funeral home with Rev James B. Myers officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Grove cememtery, near West Alexandria. Military rites will be in charge of the Justice-Liebold Post 377, American Legion of Camden, assisted by the New Lebosen Legion Post. The body was taken to the parents home on the Williamson road, near Sugar Valley, where friends may call afternoon tomorrow. Surviving are his parents, two sons, John and Fanny, a brother Gene, at home, and a grandmother, Mrs. Ada Hartman, of Dayton. His widow is now remarried. |
