Hiram M. Bogart "Bud"
119/A
30th Infantry Division
James:
I hope I am sending this information to the right person: I did not see my grandfather's name on the roster and I would like you to add it please.  I have his official papers and his medal if you need them.

The notes were written by my Grandmother, Jessie Bogart.  In the photos my grandfather, Hiram,  was referred to as "Bud".  I have other photos of the training camp as well from when my grandmother visited.

He died on November 30, 1987 in Williamsport, PA and is buried at Twin Hills Memorial Park in Muncy, PA.

Hiram M. Bogart entered service in the army on March 11, 1943.  He was a private first class in company "A" of the 119th infantry in the 30th division during World War II.  He arrived in France through Normandy on June 13, 1944 and fought battles in the European theater including Normandy, Northern France (July 17), and Rhineland (Sept. 3 in Belgium, Sept. 14 in Holland).  He received the Bronze Star for crossing a field under heavy fire in Holland to get batteries for the radio to enable communication with other units that allowed them to obtain their battle objectives.  He received a combat infantryman badge and other honors.  He was discharged on June 19, 1945 from NJ.

Thank You.  Lori Smith, Granddaughter
