| Inducted in U.S. Army on Sept 9, 1944, Indianapolis, Indiana; basic training at Ft. McClellan, AL; broke foot and in hospital six weeks there.
Left the U.S. from Ft. Meade, MD on the USS Gordon, landed in France, went through France, Holland and joined the 30th Div. Cleaned up snipers guarded radio equipment in Germany; war ended with Germany, were to be sent to Japan, crossed France, England boarded the Queen Mary for the U.S., learned war with Japan ended. Went from New York to Camp Atterbury, then to Camp in North Carolina; then to Ft. Knox, Ky sent back to Camp Atterbury to guard German prisoners and to take them to places to work; then returned prisoners to New York to be sent back to Germany. Served 21 1/2 months, was private first class, rifleman and military policeman six months; received American theatre Ribbon, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, separated June 30, 1946 at Camp Atterbury. He is now a member of the Color Guard in Columbus, Indiana, serving with American Legion #24; is a member of VFW, American Legion in Hope and DAV.
