Funeral services for Robert F. Miller, 82, of Painesville Township, will be 8 p.m. Thursday at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville. Mr. Miller passed away Jan. 20, 2008, at LakeWest Hospital in Willoughby. He was born July 16, 1925, in Cleveland. He was a member of Mentor Plains United Methodist Church, B.P.O.E. 549 in Painesville where he was the Past Exalted Ruler, was Past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler, Temple Lodge Free and Accepted Masons 28 in Painesville, and Willoughby Fraternal Order of Eagles Arie 2300. He served in the U.S. Army in the 83rd Infantry Division. He landed on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day plus 1 and was awarded a Bronze Star. Mr. Miller was a taxi driver for Yellow Cab in Cleveland. He also retired from Gould Inc. in 1985 as manager of the research and development department after 30 years of service. Survivors are his wife, Margaret (Steffey) Miller; sister, Ruth Kahn of Cleveland; and beloved friends "adopted children" Winston and Susan Bailey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Bertha Miller. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. B.P.O.E. 549 will conduct services at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mentor Cemetery. |
