Richard L. Fields

GREENSBORO - Dr. Richard L. Fields, psychologist, educator, soldier, has died. He was 85.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 12 in the Chapel at Bennett College.

During World War II, he led a platoon of Buffalo Soldiers in the Army's fabled 92nd Division. He spent his professional career at numerous schools, colleges and institutions in North Carolina and New York.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, the former Gladys Westray; son, Richard A. Fields and his wife, Sylvia, of Stockbridge, GA; son, Mark L. Fields, and daughter, Tracy A. Fields, both of Greensboro. Also surviving are his sisters, Glenrose Fields-Bradford, of Pittsburgh; and Lillian Milne, of Brooklyn, NY; granddaughter Kirstyn E. Fields of Chicago and grandson Richard A. Fields Jr. of Dallas.

Instead of flowers, the family requests donations to the United Negro College Fund.
