Typical Construction at "Mudberry" |
|
This view of one of the Service
Clubs under construction is typical of the appearance of Camp
Atterbury this summer when construction hit its fastest pace. For a
while persistent rains made it appear the camp would not be completed
on time. As many as 14,000 workmen were employed here at one time.
Early arrivals at camp remember the muddy roads and the rough ground
which had to be leveled, their first jobs here in their new quarters.
By Spring, when there is a thick coating of grass, this scene will be
just a memory. Atterbury Crier - 12.31.1942 |
