Each book has an appendix that lists the name and location of all known USAAF Airfields, listed in "The Army Air Forces Station List, 4 November 1943,": and the "U.S. Army and Navy Directory of Airfields (Continental United States) February 1, 1944."

The books are extensively researched, first from the "official" histories on file at the Office of Air Force History, Maxwell AFB Alabama, period newspapers, base newspapers, other references, local historical files, and interviews with the people who served at the bases, as trainees, trainers, and staff. The histories are a goldmine of information about our training programs for Pilots, Navigators, Bombardiers, Gunners, and maintenance schools, not only form the "official sources", but also through the eyes of trainers and trainees, and those who ran the programs. I visited most of the fields and took the "now" pictures.
