Pending delivery to the Bell Aircraft Corporation at Buffalo, NY. Jack Woolams, the Chief Test Pilot of Bell Aircraft, had previously made requests to carry out test flights of the Me 163B, in connection with the Bell company's work on the experimental Bell XS-1 rocket-powered aircraft then under development. With Woolam's death in a flying accident on 30 August 1946 it is probable that the intended Bell test program of the Me 163B was cancelled. |
