Aug 28, 1951 - 28th Division returns from Fort Bragg to CAMP ATTERBURY following Exercise Southern Pine. Aug 31, 1951 - The former enemies of the world war reconvened in San Francisco to finalize negotiations on the peace treaty to formally end WW II. Japan agreed to pay the Int'l. Red Cross about $15 per POW while the allies agreed not to bring charges against it. |

Nov 21, 1951 - General Eisenhower meets 28th Division at Bremerhaven, Germany. Nov 23, 1951 - 28th Division boards USS General Butler for movement to Bremerhaven, Germany. Nov 30, 1951 - CAMP ATTERBURY has begun processing Korean War veterans for assignments to other units. Upon arriving at the base, the combat veterans are given a 34-day furlough. |
