May 4, 1970 - At Kent State University, Ohio on Monday, a peaceful noontime rally of some 2,000 students was ordered to disburse by guardsmen. Tear gas was fired and guardsmen charged into the crowd. At 12:20 p.m., a small group of Guardsmen suddenly wheeled and unleashed a 13-second volley of gunfire. They fired into a group of protesters, killing four and wounding 9-11 others. |
