Nov 20, 1978 - Col King leaves and Col Clifford M. Brown assumes command of CAMP ATTERBURY. California Rep. Leo J. Ryan and four other people were killed in Jonestown, Guyana, by members of the Peoples Temple. The killings were followed by a night of mass murder and suicide by 912 cult members. Greg Robinson, a SF Examiner photographer, Don Harris, NBC correspondent, Bob Brown, NBC cameraman, and Patricia Parks, a temple defector, were shot dead. The 914 suicides at Jonestown included 260 children. |
