My four serial numbers were - National Guard
Enlisted: 20412631, Reserve Officer on Active Duty: 0-1101295: When I
was integrated in to the Regular Army my serial number was 080204. When
the Army dropped serial numbers and went to social Security numbers, I
became a Platoon Sgt ( Staff Sergeant) with Co. E. In April 1942 I was selected for Engineer OCS at Ft. Belvoir. After graduation I was assigned to the 51st Engr (c) Bn. I stayed with it until the end of the war in Europe. I retired from the Army in 1971 As a full Colonel.. Both of us participated in all 5 Campaigns of the war in Europe. We were able to see each three times during the war. If you are wondering I am 85 years old going on 105. |
