(1) -- All killed in the 25 December 1944 bombing of Malmedy by the U. S. Air Corps.  Bodies were never found.

(2) -- All killed in the “Disaster in the English Channel” on 15 June 1944 when their ship was struck by a mine before landing.  Bodies never recovered.

(3) -- It is not known for certain as to why these men were buried in these cemeteries, far away from the route of the 30th Infantry Division. It is thought that it just depended upon which Graves Registration Unit exhumed the bodies from the temporary cemeteries and were moved to a permanent cemetery within their zone of operation.

(4) -- It is unknown why a 30th Division KIA was buried in Hawaii.
