104th Anti-Aircraft

The distinctive insignia of the 104th Anti-Aircraft Battalion has behind it a history almost as colorful as the blazonry upon it.

The shield is in red for artillery.  The projectile, pointed up and bearing wings, indicates the anti-aircraft artillery activities of the battalion.

The shell and wings are yellow for cavalry units which were re-designated in the formation of this organization and constituted as the 104th Separate Battalion, Coast Artillery (AA) Alabama National Guard on November 14, 1940.

Distinguished gallantry in active service led to the motto found on the crest,

"Duty Well Done."
