German Navy Ship Model
built by a German Prisoner of War
at Camp Atterbury

This wooden ship model of a German Battleship, believed to be the Shornhorst, was hand crafted by a German Prisoner of War while interned at Camp Atterbury around 1944.

It was given to a civilian employee and remains in that family today.  There is supposed to be a paper inside the model that explains the ship, but so far it has not been found.  It is owned by Mr. Larry K. Isom

One part of the bridge is constructed from a bottle cap.  The anchor chain is from the builder's ID tag.
