West Harrison, IN. December 20, 2011:   Mike Rolf, District IV Commander announced that the District has submitted the required paperwork to become the sponsoring organization for creating the Sea Cadet Unit that is being established at Camp Atterbury.

The United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps is an organization whose mission is: “through organization and cooperation with the Department of the Navy, to encourage and aid American youth to develop, train them in seagoing skills, and to teach patriotism, courage, self-reliance and kindred virtues.”               The Naval Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC) is a program for young men and women ages 13-17 who are interested in developing their skills in leadership, basic seamanship, courage, self-reliance, military discipline and are committed to being drug and gang free.

Cadet Units are organized along military lines, their main purpose is to foster good citizenship and an interest and appreciation of our nation’s sea services: the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine.
